Obesity and unhealthy lifestyle has become an epidemic in the modern world. With easy access to “convenient foods”, bad eating habits, long and odd working hours, stress, lack of sleep.. all this takes a toll on our body and mind. We cannot reverse the biological clock, but we can improve our lifestyle and fitness levels. This can go a long way from conception to delivery.
Off late, Polycystic ovarian syndrome has been on the rise and is seen in as many as 35-40 percent of young women, especially in the infertile population. Obesity and unhealthy lifestyle is closely associated with this. Overweight and obese individuals not only have trouble in conceiving, but can also have many pregnancy complications including, abortions, preterm labour, hypertension in pregnancy, gestational diabetes, difficult delivery and increased need for Caesarian section.
