Adhesiolysis Treatment

When two organs get stuck to each other in our body, they are said to be adhered to each other.

The normal internal pelvic anatomy in the woman is that the fallopian tube is attached to the uterus in its medial end and the lateral end is free. Same is true for the ovaries. In some situations like after an infection or after a surgery or because of endometriosis, the lateral end of the fallopian tube or the entire tube may be adhered to the uterus. Because of The adhesions, the tube does not function normally and the woman may not be able to conceive. These adhesions can be very minimal or dense. The adhesions need to be cut and the organs need to freed. This is done either through the Laparoscope.

Similarly in endometriosis, there could be flimsy or dense adhesion of the ovaries or of the large bowel to the posterior aspect of the uterus. These adhesions can cause severe pain during periods and cause infertility. Laparoscopic surgery can correct these adhesions.

Also because of previous infection or previous curettage in the uterus there could be intrauterine adhesions. This reduces the space available for the fetus to grow and can cause infertility, repeated abortions or repeated failed embryo transfer. Hysteroscopy is an excellent way of diagnosing and correcting these adhesions.

At Dr Sudha Tandon centre, we have all the best facilities for doing both Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis.

After the surgery, the woman can expect a natural conception depending on the degree of adhesions.

If not the best option for her to conceive will be through ART or IVF .
